Weather update: Heavy rain expected across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Tonight, heavy rain is expected in several parts of the country. Heavy rainfall is expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Light showers predicted for Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Peshawar.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain may trigger flash flooding and water accumulation in low-lying areas and may cause disruptions in day-to-day movement.

Risk of landslides expected due to heavy rain in Murree, Galiyat and the mountainous areas of AJK.
Concerned authorities and general public advised to take precautionary measures to avoid any possible damage.

Rain in the country expected until July 13, with the likelihood of thunderstorms across Punjab, KP, Balochistan, Sindh, AJK and GB; however, heavy rain likely in some areas.

Weather in Pakistan from 11 July to 13 July: “Rains with thunderstorms expected in Upper Punjab, Pothohar region, Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat and the northern areas. Thundershowers forecast for Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum.

Scattered rains predicted for Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Sargodha divisions.
Scattered rains are expected in Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar and northern regions.

Heavy rainfall is likely over Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan. Scattered rainfall is likely over Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

Most of the districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see thundershowers along with heavy rainfall. Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad will receive rains. Intermittent rainfall likely in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from July 11 to July 13.

Rainfall in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Poonch, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber.
Scattered thundershowers in Gilgit, Skardu, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer, Ghanche, Shigar, Nagar and Hunza. Thundershowers are also likely in northeastern parts of Balochistan.

Showers are predicted over Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu and Ziarat
