LISBON: Portugal’s world-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has crossed another historic milestone in the world of sports and has become one of the richest athletes in the world.

According to the latest estimates by the American magazine Forbes, Ronaldo’s net worth has reached nearly $1.2 billion. He has also been named the world’s highest-earning athlete for the third consecutive year.

According to the report, Ronaldo earned nearly $300 million in the last 12 months, which means that his wealth has increased by an average of more than $570 every minute, which means Rs. 162,700 in PKR

According to financial experts, these figures reflect that Ronaldo’s success in business as well as sports has been extraordinary.

The biggest increase in Ronaldo’s income was seen after joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Nasr in 2023.

Later, in 2025, he extended his contract with the club, after which, according to Forbes, his annual income exceeded $200 million.

This amount is much more than what he earned in his final years in Europe.

Messi sets another World Cup record with 20 chance-creating passes

Lionel Messi has made 20 passes that have resulted in shots at the 2026 World Cup so far, becoming the first player since 1966 to do so in three different World Cup editions.

Messi took his World Cup assists tally to 10 by setting up Alexis McAllister from a corner kick, the most by any player since 1966. He also surpassed Diego Maradona (8 assists). Interestingly, this was also Messi’s first corner assist at the World Cup.

Moreover, at the end of the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez and Jude Bellingham set several new records with their outstanding performances, while several unique honors were also established in the history of the tournament.

Argentina defeated Switzerland 1-3 in extra time to reach the semi-finals, while England defeated Norway 1-2 to reach the last four teams.

This is the first World Cup since the release of the FIFA rankings in 1992 in which the top four seeded teams have managed to reach the semi-finals.

In addition, this is only the third time in the history of the World Cup that all four semi-finalists are former world champions; this honor was previously seen in the 1970 and 1990 World Cups.
