ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan is embracing cold weather the temperatures are dropping significantly, Monday was the coldest day of winter so far in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with temperatures falling below freezing.
The current cold wave is predicted to last till December 14 throughout Pakistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). According to the PMD’s prediction, a protracted cold period will result from continental air continuing to dominate most of the nation.
On Monday night, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the cold wave is predicted to get worse in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other locations in Pakistan. In addition, the PMD has forecasted snowfall in hilly regions and the formation of frost in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plains, and Upper Punjab in the morning.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Islamabad is predicted to be between 1°C below freezing and 1°C. In the same vein, Rawalpindi’s lowest temperature is predicted to fall between 1°C below and 1°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, staying close to the freezing point.
Over the past 24 hours, a cold wave has dominated most of the nation, with substantial snowfall in hilly regions. With a temperature decrease of 13°C below the freezing point, Leh continued to be the coldest location in the nation. Extremely low temperatures, between -7°C and -5°C, were also observed in other places, including Gupis, Skardu, and Kalat.
The minimum temperature in Islamabad fell to freezing (0°C), while the evening relative humidity was 55%. Likewise, in Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature also dropped to the freezing point (0°C), with a relative humidity of 27% in the evening.
