LAHORE: The citizens of the provincial capital are on high alert amid the worsening smog conditions in Lahore. The weather is likely to remain dry, while there is no potential chance of rain.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the city is likely to be 19 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature may reach 26 degrees Celsius. The humidity level in the air was recorded above 67%.

Weather forecasters have confirmed that there is no chance of rain in Lahore today. Additionally, Lahore tops the global pollution list, with an average smog level of 218.

The increasing smog levels are threatening the overall air quality of Lahore making it difficult for citizens to breathe in open air.

Weather will remain dry in most parts of the country. However, in the evening/night, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir will remain cloudy, besides rain at a few places, and light snowfall is expected over the high mountains. Most of the areas of Punjab are covered with smog, while some plain areas are likely to experience moderate to heavy fog during the night.

Residents of Lahore are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period, such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak sun hours, using masks to prevent health damage due to increasing smog, and using protective gear like hats and sunglasses.
