ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory, cautioning residents to exercise caution during the snowfall.
A weather warning for snowfall and harsh weather conditions issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is valid from today until December 18, 2025.
According to the advisory, rain or snow is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and other areas of Balochistan.
With deteriorating weather conditions, the density of the fog could likely increase, especially during morning and nighttime periods.
Meanwhile, the plains may likely get some light to moderate rainfall. Additionally, the mountains, as well as the higher areas, are likely to record cases of snowfall.
It warned of heavy snowfall in the areas of Kohistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the high mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, and the mountains of Azad Kashmir.
Snowfall: Snowfall could hamper traffic pattern continuity on the mountains. In some places, road blockage is also likely. In Balochistan, light rainfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, and some areas of the northwestern districts. Snowfall is also expected in the adjoining hilly areas.
“There is a possibility that the intensity of the snowfall could weaken from December 16 to 18,” it added. Despite this, cold weather is expected to continue.
In the upper areas, slippery roads resulting from snow could also influence road traffic. Moreover, occasional light snowfall is also expected in various places in the north.
NDMA has appealed to tourists and travelers not to make unnecessary journeys to the hilly areas and to comply with the instructions issued by the local authorities.
