ISLAMABAD: According to the Meteorological Department, another spell of monsoon rains will begin across the country tonight. The Met Office reported that rain is likely in Islamabad and many cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from July 28 to 31.
It also warned of potential flooding in low-lying areas and rivers during that period. According to the forecast, rain is already occurring with the ongoing monsoon system in Punjab (including Lahore) and thus, only light rain is expected. The
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has already given an alert for the fifth monsoon spell expected during July 28 to 31. Balochistan is receiving rains from July 29 to 31, and cities of Sindh are likely to experience rain during July 30-31.
The Met Office warned that low-lying areas in several cities may be affected by water accumulation, and landslides may also occur in the upper regions. Officials advised tourists and travellers to plan their movements according to the weather predictions.
