ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent pre-monsoon rainfall across several parts of the country from June 28 to July 3.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a high alert over the risk of glacier melting, flash floods, and landslides in northern regions.

The country’s regular monsoon season is expected to begin on July 1, but pre-monsoon weather systems are likely to bring rain to various areas before then.

Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad Weather

The Met Office said Lahore is expected to remain hot and humid with no significant rainfall forecast.

Temperatures may reach 40°C, with a minimum of 32°C, while humidity is expected to remain around 63%.

In Karachi, weather conditions will remain hot and partly cloudy.

The maximum temperature is likely to reach 36°C, with humidity around 72% and westerly winds of approximately 20 km/h, making the heat feel more intense.

The federal capital, Islamabad, is also expected to experience severe heat, with daytime temperatures climbing to 41°C. The weather will remain hot and dry despite light winds.

Northern Areas Face Flood Risk

Rainfall has been forecast for Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and upper KP, where authorities fear rapidly melting glaciers could trigger dangerous flooding.

NDMA has advised residents, tourists, and travelers in Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Skardu, Shigar, Ghanche, Kharmang, Astore, Diamer, Upper and Lower Chitral.

Authorities have urged the public to closely monitor weather updates and immediately report any emergency situation to the local administration.
