14 migrants dead as boat capsizes in Turkey

ISLAMABAD: Migrant boat capsizes in Turkey, 14 dead. According to foreign media, the tragic incident of the boat capsize occurred in the Aegean Sea near the Turkish coastal city of Bodrum.

There were 18 people on board the boat, at least 14 migrants died in the accident, while 2 people were rescued.

The governor’s office said that an Afghan man, who survived the accident and swam to shore, reported the accident to the authorities.

The Afghan citizen told emergency services that 18 people had boarded the boat, but shortly after the boat filled with water and sank.

According to the governor’s office, rescue teams rescued another person, who managed to swim to a nearby island.

Four coast guard boats, a helicopter and a special team of divers are conducting operations to search for the missing.

According to the report, the area is considered a dangerous but short route for migrants, leading from the Turkish coast to nearby Greek islands. These islands often become the gateway to European countries for people.
