MANILA: A 6.7-magnitude earthquake was felt in the eastern region of the Philippines, causing panic and fear in various areas. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was located 68 kilometers east of Bakulin.
The USGS said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers below the surface of the earth, due to which the tremors were felt in a wide area. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has issued a warning of aftershocks and possible damage after the earthquake.
According to Phivolcs, at least six aftershocks were recorded until 11:25 am local time, the intensity of which gradually decreased. The intensity of these aftershocks ranged from 3.9 to 2.1.
No tsunami alert has been announced yet. According to the USGS, the situation is being monitored, while local authorities have instructed citizens to take precautionary measures.
