Air India Crash: Sole survivor discovered, shares crucial details

AHMEDABAD: A passenger from the Air India flight that crashed near Ahmedabad has miraculously survived and has given initial statements that offer important insights into the incident.

According to Indian media, relatives of the passengers were searching for their loved ones at Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital Asarwa when 40-year-old Vishwas Kumar Ramesh was found alive in the general ward. They said he had survived the fatal crash.

The survivor, who was sitting in seat 11A, suffered injuries to his chest, eyes and legs.

Indian reports revealed that Vishwas Kumar Ramesh is a British national who had been in India for a few days to meet his family. He was returning to the UK with his brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh at the time of the crash.

Recalling the moment of the tragedy, Vishwas said, “There was a loud bang about 30 seconds after take-off, and then the plane crashed. It all happened so fast.”

He added that he and his brother were sitting in different rows on the plane.

The ill-fated Air India flight, bound for Gatwick, had 242 people on board, including crew members. It took off at 1:39 pm on Thursday and crashed into flames moments later.
