Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on April 11: Shawwal moon not in sight for India, Bangladesh

NEW DELHI: The Shawwal moon not sighted in India & Bangladesh today as Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 will be observed on April 11 on Thursday.

India’s Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahli has announced that Muslims in Asian nations will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on April 11 (Thursday), as the moon was not sighted on Tuesday.

This announcement was made by the Markazi Chand Committee Eidgah Lucknow, confirming the non-sighting of the moon for Eid-ul-Fitr 2024.

Imams of Delhi’s Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Mosque also denied sighting the moon, stating that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated in India on Thursday.

The notification issued said that the new moon of Shawwal had not occurred on April 9, making April 10 the 30th Roza and Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on April 11, 2024.
