BERLIN: The European Union says it is ready to lift sanctions on Iran in the event of a comprehensive agreement.

The European Union has hinted at lifting economic sanctions on Iran and said that if a comprehensive agreement is reached between the US and Iran, the sanctions will be eased in stages.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made an important statement in this regard and said that the EU is fully ready to lift sanctions on Iran in the event of a comprehensive agreement between the US and Iran.

He clarified that the process of easing these sanctions will be gradual and that other EU member states or leaders have no objection to this proposal, but rather everyone has suggested the same.

The German Chancellor added that Germany is ready to play its full role in protecting the security of the region, especially the Strait of Hormuz, and maintaining the flow of shipping there.
