Explosion reported near Red Fort metro station in New Delhi

NEW DELHI: At least 8 people have been killed, and several have been injured in the New Delhi blast near the Red Fort metro station.

Police Sources confirm CNG cylinder caused the blast, according to Republic TV.

According to Indian media, the explosion took place in a vehicle parked near gate number one of the metro station.

The Delhi Fire Department said that 3 to 4 vehicles caught fire after the explosion, and fire brigade teams have been sent to the scene to extinguish.

Authorities have cordoned off the area while rescue operations are underway.
