Former Afghan police chief killed in Iran
TEHRAN: A former Afghan police chief, Akramuddin Saree, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
According to Iranian media, Akramuddin Saree, the former police chief of the Afghan province of Takhar, was shot in the head near his home in Tehran.
According to Iranian media, an associate of the former Afghan police chief was also killed and one person was injured in the shooting.
The Tehran Police Department officially confirmed the killing of the former Afghan police officer and said that the incident is under investigation.
According to foreign media, Saree left Afghanistan and took up residence in Iran after the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.
