Hundreds gather to pay last tribute to India’s iconic businessman Ratan Tata

MUMBAI: Hundreds of fans and loved ones gathered in Mumbai today to pay their last respects to Ratan Tata, one of India’s most iconic business tycoons, who passed away at the age of 86.

As chairman of the Tata conglomerate for over 20 years, Tata led various companies to achieve remarkable success, with a revenue of $165 billion in 2023-24. His exemplary business acumen and philanthropic nature earned him widespread respect and admiration.

Although Tata had stepped back from day-to-day operations in recent years, he remained a trusted advisor to the Tata Sons leadership, offering valuable guidance on key decisions.

Tributes have poured in from around the world, highlighting his profound impact on business and society. Stating on social media platform X. US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti described Tata as “a giant with a giant heart,” while Google CEO Sundar Pichai praised his mentorship and dedication to India’s growth.

Ratan Tata’s body, draped in the Indian national flag, was kept at a cultural center in Mumbai, with his funeral scheduled to take place later today with full state honors.

Notable figures, including India’s central bank governor Shaktikanta Das, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, and Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, were among the early visitors to pay their respects to the Padma Vibhushan awardee.

Tata’s legacy extends beyond his business accomplishments. A licensed pilot and philanthropist, he was known for his humility and generosity.

Cornell University, his alma mater, remembered him as their most generous international donor, citing his transformative giving As India and the world bid farewell to this visionary leader, his impact on business, society, and humanity will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Fans and millions of followers are still in shock over the death of India’s most iconic personality Ratan Tata and are still grieving about the greatest loss of Indians. The nation will always remember Ratan Tata’s contribution to successful India.
