ISLAMABAD: Reza Amiri Moghadam, the envoy of Iran to Pakistan, has strongly criticised the United States over its naval blockade and ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on social media platform X, the envoy said the United States cannot continue violating international law, tightening its blockade, and issuing what he described as “unreasonable demands” while simultaneously claiming to pursue diplomacy.
He further stated that as long as the naval blockade remains in place, “fault lines remain,” warning that the situation cannot stabilise under current conditions.
The remarks reflect escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, where both sides have exchanged accusations in recent days.
Iran has repeatedly maintained that the blockade undermines diplomatic efforts and violates existing ceasefire understandings, while the United States has defended its actions as part of enforcement measures against sanctioned maritime activity.
The latest comments come amid continued uncertainty over planned negotiations, with Iran signalling hesitation to engage in further talks under current conditions.
