KARACHI: The young daughter of a member of the National Assembly died after being hit by a bullet coming from an unknown direction. The victim was a medical student.
According to details, a very heartbreaking incident has taken place in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Achi, where the 18-year-old daughter of Member of the National Assembly Iqbal Mehsud, Mah Noor, died as a result of a bullet coming from an unknown direction.
Police officials said that the incident took place on Saturday night in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7. Mah Noor, who was inside the house, was suddenly hit in the head by a bullet coming from an unknown direction, which seriously injured her. She was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital (Patel Hospital), where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday morning.
The victim Mah Noor was a medical student and belongs to the family of a member of the National Assembly affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
During the initial police investigation, the family members have refused to take any legal action, terming the incident as the result of a ‘blind bullet’.
Despite the family’s denial, the police have started an investigation from various angles, keeping in mind the sensitivity of the incident, to determine the actual direction and reason for the firing.
Mahnoor’s funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Madinah Islamia, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7, in which a large number of relatives, political and social figures and local people attended. Later, she was buried in the local cemetery.
The increasing incidents of aerial firing and bullets coming from unknown directions in Karachi have once again raised serious questions about the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
