TEHRAN: Iran has decided to resume international passenger flights from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport after the ceasefire.
According to officials, flights to Istanbul and Muscat will start on Saturday, April 25, while permits for other domestic and international routes will be issued in stages as requested.
Ramin Kashif Azar, head of Imam Khomeini Airport City, told Iranian media that air operations suspended due to the war are now on the verge of recovery, and all the airport’s infrastructure and navigation system are fully functional.
He clarified that during the ceasefire, the airport was used only for cargo operations, but now all facilities have been provided for passengers as well.
Iran’s national airline had earlier launched its domestic operations on April 22 with the first domestic flight from Tehran to Mashhad, which is now being expanded further.
It should be noted that Iran’s airspace was affected after the joint attacks by the US and Israel in late February this year and Tehran’s retaliatory measures. Life is now returning to normal after the ceasefire brokered by Pakistan on April 8.
US President Donald Trump has also recently stated that the ceasefire, at Pakistan’s request, will remain in place until a comprehensive proposal is presented by Iran. Recent talks and diplomatic efforts in Islamabad have further strengthened hopes for the resumption of these flights and peace in the region.
