Italy to issue 10,500 work visas for Pakistani skilled workers

ROME:  Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi announced that 10,500 visas will be issued legally for Pakistani skilled labor, while Pakistani diplomatic passport holders will be exempted from visa requirements.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Italian counterpart, Matteo Piantedosi Duce, in Rome, where they discussed cooperation between the two countries on internal security, illegal immigration, and combating human trafficking.

Piantedosi said that Mohsin Naqvi had recently proposed a visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports. The two interior ministers stressed the importance of joint measures to prevent illegal immigration.

Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan has reduced illegal immigration by strictly monitoring its airports and sea borders.

The Italian Interior Minister praised Pakistan’s effective policies and said that Pakistan’s achievements against drugs, illegal immigration, and human trafficking are commendable. He added that both countries will increase their cooperation to promote legal migration.
