KUWAIT CITY: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Zafar Iqbal confirmed that Kuwait has officially resumed issuing several visa categories to Pakistani nationals, a significant development in bilateral relations and labor cooperation.

Since May, Pakistani nationals have started getting approval for work, family visit, dependent, tourist and commercial visas. The move is aimed at restoring manpower sources and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Dr. Iqbal also shared plans to bring 1,200 Pakistani nurses to Kuwait’s healthcare sector. Although the first batch of 125 nurses faced delays due to accommodation issues, efforts are underway to resolve the issue. “We expect their early arrival,” he said.
He further revealed that Pakistan and Kuwait are close to finalizing a new labor memorandum of understanding (MoU), with some clauses already being implemented.

Highlighting the long-standing ties, Dr. Iqbal said that there are over 93,000 Pakistanis residing in Kuwait, who are actively contributing to healthcare, education and infrastructure. He noted Kuwait’s investment in Pakistan and highlighted opportunities in agriculture, food security and housing. The ambassador also appreciated Kuwait’s diplomatic role and support for Pakistan’s recent bid for a seat in the United Nations Security Council. He described the relationship as based on shared history and mutual respect, recalling Pakistan’s military support during the Gulf War.
