LAHORE: Lahore Traffic Police has launched a major operation against the top 1000 vehicles that have repeatedly failed to pay their e-challans. Government vehicles will now be among those facing action in the crackdown led by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed.
According to the CTO, 12 dedicated recovery teams have been formed across the city to identify and track defaulting vehicles using Safe City surveillance data. Under this initiative, fines are being collected on the spot.
So far, the authorities have seized over 300 vehicles with outstanding e-challans. In a shocking case, a motorcycle was found with 313 unpaid traffic violations, which resulted in a total fine of Rs. 335,300.
CTO Dr. Waheed said that several vehicles belonging to government departments are also among the top violators. A separate list of these government vehicles has been prepared, and action is expected against them soon.
The Traffic Department is urging all citizens to pay their outstanding fines to avoid further legal consequences.
