Pakistan, Lebanon agree to strengthen military cooperation and defence ties
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Lebanon have agreed to enhance military cooperation and strengthen professional ties between their armed forces following a meeting between the senior military leadership of the two countries at General Headquarters (GHQ).
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Rudolf Heikal visited GHQ in Rawalpindi, where he met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. A guard of honour was presented to the visiting military chief upon his arrival.
During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, and defence cooperation. The military leadership reviewed opportunities for expanding collaboration and agreed to further strengthen professional and institutional ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Lebanon.
The discussions also focused on enhancing training cooperation and broadening defence engagement between the two countries. Both sides expressed their commitment to promoting closer military relations and increasing bilateral cooperation.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Lebanon and reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to advancing defence cooperation.
General Rudolf Heikal appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and praised their contribution to regional peace and stability.
According to the ISPR, the Lebanese Army chief’s visit reflects the growing defence partnership between Pakistan and Lebanon and marks an important step in strengthening military-to-military relations.
