AJK Election Commission revises election schedule 2026

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has revised the schedule for the 2026 general elections, announcing that polling will now be conducted in phases across the region.

According to the revised schedule, elections in the constituencies reserved for Jammu and Kashmir refugees will be held division-wise on separate dates.

Voting for the divisions of Mirpur and Muzaffarabad will be held on July 27 and August 2, respectively, while polls in Poonch Division will be held on August 10.

According to the Election Commission, the choice of the above-mentioned dates was made to ensure a satisfactory security and law-and-order situation and enable conducting elections in an orderly manner in all constituencies.

With the new schedule, the polling in AJK will be carried out in three phases. Under the first phase, polls in all constituencies of Mirpur Division will be held on July 27, 2026.

The second phase will be conducted on August 2 in Muzaffarabad Division, while the third and last phase of polls in Poonch Division will be held on August 10.

The Chief Election Commissioner AJK said that the results of the elections will not be withheld till the end of all phases. Rather, the election results from individual divisions and constituencies will be declared right after the conclusion of polling in that particular phase.

Afterward, political parties have sped up the process of preparing themselves in accordance with the new polling dates.
