World Cup champions Spain rise to No. 1 in FIFA rankings

NEW YORK: The Spanish football team, which won the FIFA World Cup 2026 on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, has now reached the top spot in the world rankings.

Spain, which was undefeated in the FIFA World Cup 2026, has jumped from second to first place with the highest increase of 121.17 points.

FIFA World Cup 2022 champions and 2026 finalists Argentina have now reached the second spot.

France is third, and England is fourth, while Brazil, which was defeated by Norway in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026, has moved up one place and is now in 5th place.

Morocco, which was defeated by France in the quarter-finals, is at its best FIFA ranking in history at number 6, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal is now in 7th place after falling 2 places.

Belgium, who lost to world champions Spain in the quarter-finals, has moved up one place to 8th, the Netherlands to 9th and Mexico to 10th.

Tunisia, who lost all three matches in FIFA World Cup Group F, has dropped 12 places to 57th, while Panama has lost the most points with 60.74 points.

Panama, which lost all three matches in FIFA World Cup Group L, is 44th in the new FIFA world rankings. Iran is 22nd, Egypt is 24th, India is 138th, and Ethiopia is 143rd in the new FIFA world rankings.

Similarly, Afghanistan is 177th, Bangladesh is 181st, and Sri Lanka is 187th, while Pakistan is 199th among 210 FIFA countries.

San Marino, one of the world’s oldest democracies and the smallest country in Europe, is ranked last in FIFA’s world rankings.
