MUMBAI: Renowned Indian activist and scientist Sonam Wangchuk, famously depicted in the movie “3 Idiots” by Amir Khan, is currently undertaking a hunger strike to advocate for the autonomy of Ladakh, a region nestled in the Himalayas.
Wangchuk’s campaign aims to shed light on the adverse effects of industrialization on Ladakh’s delicate ecology and glaciers. Additionally, he is protesting against what local residents perceive as encroachment by China on their territory.
Despite pleas from supporters concerned about his health, Wangchuk remains steadfast in his resolve to complete a 21-day hunger strike. His determination underscores his commitment to the cause and his belief in the importance of raising awareness about the challenges facing Ladakh.
