WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump has brokered a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with US President Donald Trump at the White House, where a complete ceasefire agreement was signed.

President Trump signed it as a witness, after which Azerbaijan and Armenia reached a complete ceasefire agreement.

US President Trump said that Azerbaijan and Armenia have signed a ceasefire agreement, and both countries will prioritize trade and the economy.

President Trump said that both countries were heading towards a big war. I told both countries to trade rather than fight.

The US President said that AI deals will continue to be included in technology agreements with both countries.

We are lifting restrictions on military cooperation with Azerbaijan. I do not want wars, I want peace and trade, and I have also stopped the war between Pakistan and India.

President Trump said that 7,000 soldiers are being killed every week in the Russia-Ukraine war, and he is going to meet the presidents of Russia and Ukraine soon.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that today is a historic day, marking the opening of a new path to peace, and we are now embarking on a strategic partnership with the United States. Azerbaijan and Armenia will move forward responsibly.

In addition, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that President Trump is playing a role in peace all over the world.

Azerbaijan and Armenia Conflict

Azerbaijan and Armenia have conflict over the border region of Nagorno-Karabakh since the 1980s.

The 6-year war between Azerbaijan and Armenia, two former states that gained independence from the Soviet Union, ended in 1994.

As a result of the war, Armenia occupied a large part of Nagorno-Karabakh, but in 2020, Azerbaijan withdrew some of it again.

Then in October 2023, an operation was launched by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh once again, due to which the separatists of Nagorno-Karabakh were forced to disarm, and they announced the dissolution of the government and annexation with Azerbaijan.

Trump Noble Peace Prize Nomination

The Prime Minister of Armenia said that President Trump is playing a role in peace all over the world.

The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia supported US President Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Prize.

It should be noted that before this, Pakistan had also nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his ceasefire with India, while Israel also nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize last month.

In addition, Cambodia formally nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering a ceasefire with Thailand.
