ABU DHABI: The UAE Fatwa Council has officially announced the amounts of Zakat al-Fitr (Zakat al-Fitr) and Fidyah for Ramadan 2026, after conducting a field price study in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
The amount for Zakat al-Fitr has been set at 2.5 kilograms of rice or 25 dirhams per person. For those who cannot fast, Fidyah has been set at 3.25 kilograms of wheat or 20 dirhams per day, to be given to a needy person.
In case the fast is invalidated, a fine of 1,200 dirhams will have to be paid, which will be divided among 60 needy people.
Additionally, violations during Hajj or Umrah will be subject to a fine of 120 dirhams, which will be divided among six needy people. The minimum price of an iftar meal has been set at 20 AED.
The Fatwa Council spokesperson stressed that paying Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory on every able-bodied Muslim, male or female.
The charity aims to help the poor during Ramadan. Zakat al-Fitr can be paid at any time from the start of Ramadan until before the Eid prayer.
The public is urged to make their payments through recognized charitable institutions, including the Zakat Fund, the Emirates Red Crescent, and other approved institutions in the UAE.
