LONDON: In a move to bring convenience to Pakistani citizens, people going to the UK will now be able to use e-visas.
A spokesperson for the British High Commission says that a new e-visa system has now been introduced for those traveling to the UK. Instead of affixing a visa sticker on the passport, confirmation will be provided through email.
According to the spokesperson, the visa application will continue to be submitted online, and attendance at the visa center will be mandatory for biometrics.
Successful applicants will be issued a digital record of immigration status.
After biometrics, there is no need to visit the visa center again to collect the passport. E-visa is a more secure system, and the risk of documents being lost or damaged will be reduced.
According to the High Commission, visa status can be proven at the border through a share code, and there is no change in visa processing time and eligibility criteria.
British High Commissioner Jane Marriott says that the new system has eliminated a major stage of the application process, and the share code system has made it easier to prove visa status.
