10 pc salary hike on cards as Balochistan govt presents budget today

QUETTA: The government of Balochistan will present its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 with a total volume of Rs1,003 billion on Tuesday in the provincial assembly, according to media reports.

The budget session will start at 4 pm in the assembly hall, as Provincial Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani will present the budget.

The government is set to increase salaries by 10 percent while pensions would be increased by 7 percent in the upcoming budget. Reports said the upcoming fiscal year’s budget is expected to be approximately Rs20 billion surplus.

Rs783 billion from the federal government is expected to be received by the provincial government during the upcoming fiscal year, while the target for provincial revenue collection has been set at Rs124 billion.

The non-development budget exceeds Rs 800 billion, while the development budget is expected to be more than Rs 200 billion.

The education sector is likely to get around Rs 175 billion, with the health sector receiving Rs 110 billion.

Similarly, Rs 100 billion will be suggested for law enforcement, with Rs 90 billion for pension payments. Salaries are predicted to rise by 10%, with pensions up by 7%.

The budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year contains a plan for 3,000 additional jobs, with the majority of them going to the education, health, and police departments.
