Justice Ejaz Swati sworn in as Chief Justice BHC

QUETTA:  After the Judicial Commission of Pakistan’s  (JCP) approval, Justice Muhammad Ejaz Swati took oath as the permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court on Tuesday, according to media reports.

Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel administered the oath to him in a dignified ceremony held at the Governor House.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers, members of the assembly, esteemed judges of the Balochistan High Court, senior lawyers, provincial secretaries, and other distinguished guests.

Justice Ijaz Swati was earlier serving as the Acting Chief Justice, and will now take over as the head of the Balochistan High Court on a permanent basis.

Earlier, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) appointed Justice Ijaz Swati as the permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday.

The appointment was made during a meeting of the JCP under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.

Three names were under consideration for the position of Chief Justice of Balochistan under a one-point agenda. The nomination was approved unanimously by the commission.

The decision of the commission has been duly communicated to the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister through an official letter.

Justice Ijaz Swati has been serving as a senior judge at the BHC and is widely respected for his legal acumen and judicial conduct.
