300 points boost in PSX ahead of Elections

KARACHI: The stock market maintained its Friday momentum on Tuesday (today), achieving gains of 265 points in just one hour of trade following the long weekend. About 10:00 AM, the index was observed to be lingering at 63,268.28 points.

On Friday, the last trading day of the previous week, the benchmark KSE-100 index saw minor gains. By the time the market closed, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) had reached 63,002.91 points, having opened at 62,393.73 points.

The index opened at 63,799.01 points on Wednesday, the day before general elections, and indicated optimism and stability with gradual and steady rise. The index was 319.65 points above the opening level, or 64,118.66 points, by 11 AM.

E&P companies accounted for the majority of the index’s early-morning gain yesterday, and they carried that momentum into today. But while PIA was trading in red yesterday, it also moved up to green today.
