The Lahore City Traffic Officer (CTO) has instructed the traffic wardens not to collect computerized national identity cards (CNICs) from the residents who are issued challans for traffic offenses, in light of the General Elections 2024 that are scheduled to take place across Pakistan on February 8.
Details reveal that CTO Amara Athar has instructed the Lahore traffic police to ensure that voters can easily cast their ballots on election day by ensuring they have their CNICs on hand.
She stated that until February 8, no citizen would receive a traffic citation against their CNIC. She explained that if someone is pulled over for a traffic infraction, they can turn in their driver’s license or vehicle registration books.

From 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. on February 8, people can pay the fine for their traffic infractions and have their already-stripped CNICs back. According to her, individuals can use the digital challan method to pay their traffic infraction fine right away and receive their documents back.

She did, however, make it clear that breaking the driving laws will result in consequences. According to her, individuals whose documents are not returned to the district courts within ten days of the fine being paid can do so by fulfilling the necessary legal procedures.
