More than 128 million people registered to vote in the February 8 elections to choose new members for Pakistani parliaments, but problems and confusion is arising for those voters whose ID cards have expired in 2024.
The ECP cleared up confusion by stating that voters having a CNIC that has expired are still able to cast a ballot in the general elections 2024.
A spokesman for the polling commission stated that voters with expired identity cards could still be able to cast ballots in 2024 General Elections.

He did, however, note that in order to exercise their right to vote, individuals must bring their original identification card to the polls, photocopy or duplicate ID cards are not eligible to vote .
The decision to permit hundreds of thousands of voters to participate in elections was made by election authorities.

Thousands of people were asking about their eligibility due to the expiry of the identity cards, prompting reaction of ECP.
On the other hand, political parties conclude campaign trail ahead of general elections, and now no political rally is allowed with one day remaining at the polls.
