PESHAWAR: The price of chicken continues to fluctuate in the poultry market of Peshawar, however, today the price of live chicken has been recorded to decrease by Rs 10 per kg.
According to the official price list, the price of live chicken in Peshawar today has been fixed at Rs 385 per kg, while the price of live chicken yesterday was Rs 395 per kg. Thus, the price of live chicken has decreased by Rs 10 per kg in one day.
Due to the daily change in prices in the poultry market, citizens face difficulties in purchasing. Sometimes the price of chicken increases, sometimes a slight decrease provides temporary relief to consumers. Citizens have welcomed today’s decrease, however, they say that further stability in prices is necessary.
On the other hand, according to the official price list, the price of eggs in Peshawar has been fixed at Rs 200 to Rs 220 per dozen. Shopkeepers in the market have been instructed to sell chicken and eggs as per the official price list.
Citizens say that the household budget has already been affected due to inflation, so the reduction in the prices of chicken, eggs and other essential commodities provides some relief to the public. Citizens have demanded that the district administration strictly implement the official price list.
According to market sources, the change in the prices of poultry products is due to supply and demand, transport costs and market conditions. If the supply remains good, further reduction in prices is also being indicated in the coming days.
The administration says that action will be taken against those who charge prices above the fixed prices. The public has also been instructed to check the official price list at the time of purchase and file a complaint with the relevant authorities in case of charging an excessive price.
