Chicken prices surge across Pakistan

LAHORE: The prices of chicken and poultry items have surged across Pakistan, making them inaccessible to residents.

In Lahore, the wholesale rate of broiler chicken is Rs 349 per kg, while the retail rate has been set at Rs 363. Meat is Rs 526 per kg, the price of eggs per dozen has been set at Rs 337, and chicken meat is being sold at Rs 550 per kg in the open market.

According to the official price list in Lahore yesterday, chicken meat was Rs 533 per kg, while today the official price has been reduced by Rs 7, but chicken is being sold at high prices in the general market.

In Faisalabad, the wholesale rate of live broiler chicken is Rs 339 per kg, the retail rate is Rs 353 per kg, while meat is being sold at Rs 511 per kg.

In Multan, the wholesale rate of live broiler chicken is Rs 306 per kg, the retail rate is Rs 320 per kg, while the rate of meat has been fixed at Rs 464 per kg; eggs are available at Rs 338 per dozen.
