Electricity rates adjusted: 88 paisa cut, 33 paisa hike

ISLAMABAD: Under the October fuel price adjustment, electricity has been made cheaper by 88 paisa per unit for the entire country, including Karachi.

NEPRA has issued a notification to make electricity cheaper by 88 paisa per unit for one month under the October fuel price adjustment. Relief for the October monthly adjustment will be available in December.

On the other hand, under the first quarterly adjustment of the current financial year, electricity has been made more expensive by 33 paisa per unit.

The decision to make electricity more expensive by 33 paisa per unit under the first quarter of the current financial year, July to September adjustment, has been sent to the federal government. According to sources, the notification for the quarterly adjustment will be issued by the federal government.

The quarterly adjustment will be applicable from December to February, and electricity will be made more expensive by 33 paisa per unit every month.

The monthly adjustment will benefit the consumers of the discos by 8.5 billion rupees, while the quarterly adjustment will burden the consumers by more than 6 billion 60 million rupees.
