Iranian petrol price surges in Balochistan amid border business closure

ISLAMABAD: With the start of the year 2025, the Pakistani government is set to announce new petrol and diesel prices for the first half of January.

As the world rings in the new year, petroleum prices in Pakistan are likely to increase.

According to media reports, the price of diesel is likely to increase by more than Rs 4 per litre, while the price of petrol will remain unchanged for the next two weeks.

The final decision on the price changes will be taken by the federal government after consultation and will be announced late on Tuesday.

By the end of December, petrol prices remained stable at Rs 252.10 per litre, as announced by the government on December 15. The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs 3.05, taking it to Rs 255.38 per litre.

Kerosene oil is now priced at Rs 161.66 per litre, while light diesel oil has also come down by Rs 2.78 to Rs 148.95 per litre.

The upcoming price hike could hit consumers who are already facing inflation, as the country faces economic challenges.
