ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): Amid another wave of inflation, flour prices have registered a fresh increase across Pakistan, putting additional financial pressure on millions of households.

Documents obtained by Daily Ausaf and ABN News reveal that the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has reached a new peak in several major cities, with Karachi residents paying the highest rates in the country.

According to the documents, the maximum price of a 20kg flour bag has risen to Rs2,900, compared to the previous peak of Rs2,800, indicating a continued upward trend in the cost of one of the country’s most essential food commodities.

The data shows that Karachi recorded the highest price at Rs2,900 per 20kg bag. In Islamabad, Quetta, and Khuzdar, the same bag is being sold for up to Rs2,800, while consumers in Peshawar are paying as much as Rs2,750.

In Rawalpindi, the price has reached Rs2,747, followed by Hyderabad at Rs2,740 and Bannu at Rs2,700. The price stands at Rs2,560 in Sukkur and Rs2,500 in Larkana.

Meanwhile, a 20kg flour bag is priced at Rs2,420 in Multan, Rs2,400 in both Gujranwala and Bahawalpur, Rs2,333 in Sialkot, Rs2,300 in Faisalabad, Rs2,250 in Lahore, and Rs2,240 in Sargodha, according to the documents.

The continued rise in flour prices is further straining household budgets, particularly for low- and middle-income families. Consumers say the increasing cost of essential food items, coupled with higher electricity, gas, and fuel prices, has significantly reduced their purchasing power.

They have urged the government to take effective measures to stabilize prices and provide relief on essential commodities.
