ISLAMABAD: The price of 24-carat gold per tola increased by Rs900 in the local market on Tuesday, following a rising trend in the international market.

According to data shared by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewelers Association, the price per tola has increased to Rs360,700 from the previous close of Rs359,800.

The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has also increased by Rs772 to Rs309,242 from Rs308,470 in the local market.

The prices of silver per tola and ten grams remained unchanged at Rs4,121 and Rs3,533 respectively.

Meanwhile, the price of wheat has increased by Rs300 per 40 kg, taking the new price to Rs3,100 from the previous Rs2,800.

Pakistan Flour Mills Association Chairman Asim Raza has expressed concern over the situation, saying that the government has failed to control wheat prices.

He highlighted that the Punjab government has deregulated the wheat market, which is leading to price instability.

Raza warned that if the current trend continues, flour prices are likely to increase further in the coming days, which could put additional financial pressure on consumers.

Stakeholders are urging the authorities to take immediate steps to stabilize the market and ensure availability of wheat at reasonable prices.
