ISLAMABAD: The price of gold in the country has suddenly increased by thousands of rupees on the first day of the business week.
According to the Sarafa Bazaar Association, gold has reached a new high of Rs 464,762 after becoming expensive by Rs 9,200 per tola.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold has also increased by Rs 7,888, after which 10 grams of gold is being sold for Rs 398,458.
It should be noted that the annual demand for gold in Pakistan is between 60 and 90 tons, which is worth about $ 8 to 12 billion, but more than 90 percent of this business is still undocumented.
According to the CCP’s research report on “Pakistan’s Gold Market”, 70 percent of the country’s gold demand is related to weddings and celebrations.
Pakistan also relies on gold imports and imported $17 million worth of gold in fiscal year 2024. The country’s official reserves were recorded at 64.76 tons by the end of 2025, worth about $9 billion.
