DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCCI) has banned the broadcasting of the IPL in Bangladesh after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to drop the Bangladeshi fast bowler from the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Bangladesh government, while announcing the ban on the telecast of the IPL, said that the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to drop Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders team is painful, regrettable and a source of grief for the people of Bangladesh.
A statement issued by the Bangladesh Cricket Board said that Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the IPL 2026 on the instructions of the BCCI. The statement clarified that no valid reason was given for this decision.
According to the BCB, this move has seriously hurt the sentiments of the people of Bangladesh.
