ISLAMABAD: The government has decided not to reduce gas prices.
According to details, a senior official of the Petroleum Division has said that OGRA has reduced the average fixed price for Sui Southern and Sui Northern from Rs 1,793 per MMBTU to Rs 1,705 per MMBTU.
According to the report, despite this reduction in the tariff for gas companies, the government has decided to maintain gas prices for the public during the fiscal year 2026-27 and gas prices will not decrease.
Officials say that the aim of maintaining gas prices is to keep the financial position of both gas companies stable.
Sources say that the government has also formally informed the IMF about the decision.
