ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government of Pakistan has announced major relief for call centers during the ongoing energy crisis, allowing them to operate without any restrictions on working hours.
According to Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the decision aims to ensure that activities in the IT sector remain unaffected. While other business centers are subject to early closure orders, call centers and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies will be exempt and allowed to operate 24/7.
Officials stated that Pakistan’s IT and BPO sector plays a crucial role in the national economy. Providing facilitation to this sector is essential to avoid disruption in exports and online services, especially for companies dealing with international clients.
Furthermore, recent local holidays in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will not apply to call centers. This step has been taken to ensure uninterrupted operations for businesses working with overseas clients.
The minister also acknowledged that delays in communication by some district administrations had caused confusion and difficulties. However, the government has assured that such issues will be resolved promptly.
Call centers have been advised to contact the Pakistan Software Export Board in case of any issues related to security or operating hours. Complaints submitted through the PSEB portal will be addressed within 24
