NEW YORK: Video-sharing platform YouTube has rolled out a new feature called “Auto Speed,” aimed at enhancing the viewing experience for its Premium subscribers.

According to a statement issued by the company, the feature automatically adjusts playback speed when users rewatch videos, helping them save time without affecting video quality.

The Auto Speed feature is currently available on a limited number of English-language videos within the app and is being tested as part of experimental features for Premium users. It will remain disabled by default, requiring users to manually enable it through the settings menu under the “Try Experimental New Features” option.

Once activated, users can access the feature through the playback speed control menu while watching videos. The company noted that Auto Speed will automatically turn off for videos that do not support the feature.

YouTube also announced that this feature will be available to Premium users on a trial basis until April 27.

In addition, the platform is testing another feature for Premium users on Android devices, offering improved listening controls to allow users to continue audio playback while multitasking.
