PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has made a big announcement for those interested in installing solar panels.

An important meeting was held in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in which the solarization project of houses in the province was reviewed. In the meeting, the concerned officials gave a detailed briefing about the progress of the project.

The Chief Minister directed that practical work on the project should be started soon so that solar systems can be provided to the deserving families as soon as possible.

Officials informed the meeting that under this project, solar units will be provided to 130,000 deserving families across the province. The project has been divided into two different categories.

In the first category, 65,000 poor and deserving families will be provided with solar systems completely free of cost. While in the second category, the same number, i.e. 65,000 families, will be provided with solar units at half the price so that they can get electricity at a low cost.

It was informed in the meeting that the PC-1 of the project has been prepared. It will soon be presented for approval in the next meeting of the PDWP.

After getting the approval, regular work on the project will start. According to the officials, the aim of this project is to reduce the electricity problems in the province and provide alternative energy to the people.

It was also informed in the meeting that a separate solarization project is also being prepared for the merged districts. This project will soon be presented for approval in the provincial cabinet meeting. The government is trying to ensure that people living in remote areas also benefit from this facility.

According to the officials, the distribution of solar systems will be done in proportion to the population in all the districts of the province. Along with this, special priority will be given to certain sections.

These include widows, disabled people, homeless people, TDPs and those areas where electricity supply is not possible or very limited.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed in the meeting that all administrative and legal steps should be completed soon for the completion of the project. He said that solarization of houses is an important project of the government which aims to provide relief to the people.
