Pakistan urges Iran to avoid Gulf attacks as Islamabad increases diplomatic contacts to stop the growing regional crisis.

Officials said Pakistan has been speaking with several regional countries to reduce tensions and prevent the conflict from spreading across the Gulf and the wider Middle East.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke by phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on Friday evening.

During the call, both leaders discussed the worsening situation in the region. Pakistan urges Iran to avoid Gulf attacks and stressed the need to stay in close communication as the crisis continues.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, both sides agreed to remain in contact regarding the latest developments.

Diplomatic sources said Islamabad has clearly conveyed its concerns to Tehran. Pakistan urges Iran to avoid Gulf attacks because such actions could expand the conflict and threaten regional stability.

This was the second phone conversation between the two foreign ministers since tensions began rising between Iran and the United States and Israel last week.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar said he reminded the Iranian leadership about Pakistan’s mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia. He also claimed that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts helped prevent a possible Iranian attack on Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement comes as reports emerge of attacks in several regional countries, including Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke by telephone with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The prime minister strongly condemned drone strikes on the Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan that reportedly targeted civilians.

Shehbaz Sharif assured the Azerbaijani president that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan during this difficult period.

He also briefed President Aliyev about Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts after the crisis escalated in Iran and the Gulf region.

President Aliyev thanked Pakistan for its support. Both leaders agreed that tensions must be reduced and peace restored through dialogue.

In another statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed serious concern over reported attacks targeting Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

The ministry said such actions violate international law and could push the region toward further escalation.

Pakistan also reaffirmed strong solidarity with Türkiye and Azerbaijan and called for restraint and diplomacy to maintain peace and stability.

However, Iranian officials denied accusations of attacks on Azerbaijan and Türkiye. They described the claims as a “false flag operation” allegedly carried out by Israel to expand the conflict.

Diplomatic observers say Pakistan’s outreach shows a careful balancing strategy as Islamabad maintains relations with several regional partners while trying to stop a larger regional war.
