KARACHI: After the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the global energy situation has improved. The effects of this change have also been seen in Pakistan.
The price of LPG per kg has decreased by Rs 20. After this decrease, the price per kg has come down to about Rs 390.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has fixed the official price of LPG at Rs 304 per kg. Despite this, gas is not available to consumers in the general market at the official rates. Due to this difference, additional financial burden remains on the public.
According to experts, if the implementation of the official rates is ensured, domestic consumers can get clear relief. Especially those households that use LPG daily, their expenses can be reduced.
On the other hand, the prices of diesel and kerosene have also decreased in the country. After this, transporters have started reducing fares. This is providing partial relief to passengers.
It should be noted that a trend of further reduction in oil prices is also being seen in the global market. If this situation continues, the prices of petroleum products are likely to decline further in the coming days.
