ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a major reduction in the price of jet fuel, after which air travel is expected to become cheaper.

The Petroleum Division has issued a notification regarding the reduction in the price of jet fuel.

According to the notification, the price of jet fuel has been reduced by Rs 111.44 per liter, after which the new price of jet fuel has been set at Rs 330.22 per liter.

Aviation sources say that the reduction in the price of jet fuel is likely to reduce the fares of airlines, and the recent reduction will reduce the additional fuel costs of airlines.

It should be noted that the price of jet fuel was Rs 188 per liter before the war in the Middle East started. Airline officials say that the current price is still high.

It should be recalled that on May 9, 2026, the government made an unprecedented change in the prices of petroleum products, increasing the price of jet fuel significantly while reducing the price of light diesel.

After a sharp increase in the price of jet fuel by Rs 53.11 per liter, its price reached Rs 441.66 per liter.

It should be noted that a day earlier, the government had also announced a reduction of Rs 5.5 per liter in the price of petrol and high-speed diesel.
