Pakistan Witnesses 1.35% Weekly Inflation Increase

Islamabad: Pakistan has experienced a 1.35% increase in weekly inflation, according to the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), just two weeks after the new government assumed office.

This surge has pushed the annual inflation rate to a concerning 32.89%, indicating significant economic pressure. Data from the statistics department reveals that prices for 18 essential items have risen, while 14 items have seen a decrease, and 23 products have remained unchanged.

The cost of tomatoes, bananas, eggs, and garlic has notably risen as the holy month began. Tomatoes have increased by up to Rs 30 per kilogram, bananas to Rs 34 per dozen, and eggs to Rs 19 per dozen. Domestic LPG cylinder prices have reached Rs 146.71, adding to household financial burdens.

Garlic prices have risen by Rs 22 per kilogram, and mutton prices by Rs 31 per kilogram. Basic food items like beef, chicken, cooking oil, and flour have also seen price hikes. However, there are some minor decreases in prices, such as branded edible oil and ghee, along with reductions in the price of flour and sugar.
