Chaman: Pakistan has recorded its second polio case of 2024, according to health officials. The latest case involves a four-year-old boy from the Mir Ali Zai area in Chaman.
This follows the first reported case earlier in Dera Bugti, where a two-and-a-half-year-old child tested positive for the poliovirus. The affected child in Dera Bugti is from Union Council No. 3 UC of Sui and genetically linked to Quetta.

Notably, Pakistan saw six polio cases in 2023. A nationwide anti-polio drive commenced on February 26, aiming to vaccinate over 45.8 million children under the age of five. Polio workers conducted door-to-door visits to administer vaccine drops and provided Vitamin A supplements to enhance children’s immunity.
